The aim was to create an identity that better reflected the sport, its community, and the IAFA’s role as a national governing body. Following in-depth client research with players and volunteers, a new core mark was developed that brings together the letters I and A while also referencing an amputee footballer in motion. This dual meaning gives the mark both clarity and character, expressing movement, strength, and progress in a simple, recognisable form. The wider system is designed to be strong, congruent, and flexible, working consistently across digital and physical applications. It allows space to highlight the fun and inclusiveness of the sport, while still carrying the pride, credibility, and authority expected of a national sports body. We built the brand identity around three central pillars; food, coffee and culture. We ideated several routes, and the outstanding option was considering a Volume as a part of a recorded series, that the space was a living archive to be shared and discovered. A record of the people, objects and stories that inhabit it. The brand is built to be archival in nature, each seasonal menu another volume in the living record. The logo is a symbol of the continuing conversation, the three elipses symbolising a thought or conversation in progress, and reflecting the three pillars. When Bar Director Derek ‘Mono’ Monaghan passed away, 3 bars and extremely big boots were left to fill. A bar committee was established and we created the Monophonic concept in memory of our late friend. I challenged myself to create a visual system that celebrated Dalymount, Bohemians, and the rich musical history of the ground. What’s resulted is a a series of outputs and a diverse musical offering of both emerging and established artists from Dublin and beyond.
